CAMPUS SUMMARY
The Ellis Hospital School of Nursing is a nursing program that prepares men and women for licensure as registered professional nurses. The program is registered by the New York State Education Dept. jointly with Schenectady Community College. The hospital-based school awards an Associate of Science degree in Nursing, conferred by the Ellis Hospital Board of Trustees. The School of Nursing is for qualified men and women of any age aspiring to realize their creative potential in nursing. All students commute to school. There are no dormitory facilities. The curriculum consists of 42 credits in nursing and 30 college credits spanning four semesters and one summer session. The Ellis School of Nursing has a long history dating back to the first incoming class in 1903. The mission of the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing is to prepare the associate degree graduate for registered professional licensure and to function as a beginning nurse who provides competent, supportive nursing services to improve the health and well-being of all people served.
